Description:
The coppers to Smith's "Tour to Hafod" are still in the possession of [Joseph Constantine] Stadler [(fl 1788-1820), engraver]; Stadler will not deliver them without an order from Smith, asks that Smith writes authorising to "sell to best advantage", would be interested in purchasing them himself. Asks if there is any engraved portrait of Smith available other than that in [Robert] Thornton's [(c 1768-1837), physician and writer on botany] "[A new illustration of the sexual system of] Linnaeus".[Smith has briefly annotated his reply on verso of second folio:] "get £11.11/ of Longman & Co. I will give you my print by W Lane".
