Welcome to Linnean Online – a repository of digitised specimens, manuscripts, correspondence, and artwork held at the Linnean Society. Linnean Online includes all of the specimens (plants, insects, shells, and fish), manuscripts, and correspondence of Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) held at the Linnean Society. The repository also includes other scientifically and historically important collections including the herbarium and correspondence of the Society’s founder, Sir James Edward Smith (1759-1828), the notebooks of Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913), and the collections of Francis Buchanan-Hamilton (1762-1829).
